The Thousand Oaks Chess Club is extremely pleased to announce that we are once again hosting a cash-prize weekend event this summer!! The 2017 (2nd annual) Conejo Valley Summer Open will be held Sat & Sun, July 29 & 30, 2017 at the beautiful Bethany Church on the Hill in Thousand Oaks. Players will clash for 5 rounds in three sections for $3,000 in CASH PRIZES!! Furthermore, FIDE titled players (including FMs!) play for FREE!
ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED — Register on-site from 9:30-10:30 am on Sat, July 29!

In 3 sections: Open, Under 1800, and Under 1400

3 rounds on Saturday, 2 on Sunday.
Round times: 11 am, 2:30 pm, 6 pm on Sat. 2 pm and 5:30 pm on Sun.
Prizes! (based on 75 paid entries; raised or lowered in proportion.)
Open Section: $550—350 —230
Best U2000 — $200
U1800 Section: $380—230 —160—100
Best U1600 — $150
U1400 Section: $250—150—100
Best U1200 — $80 Best U800 — $70 plus trophies to all prizewinners!
Unrated players may play in U1800 or U1400; prize cap U1800 – $200 and U1400 – $100.
Entry Fee: Top 2 sections – only $50 if received by July 17, $55 by July 26, $65 after/on site.
U1400 Section – all $10 less than above ($40–45–55).

No mail-in entries after July 26. On site reg: Sat, July 29 — 9:30-10:30 am.
FIDE titled players (FMs, IMs, GMs & WGMs) play FREE, $40 subtracted from prize.

July official USCF ratings will be used.
2 Half-point byes available; rounds 1-3 must commit before the start of the tournament (10:30 Sat.), rounds 4-5 before round 3 begins (6 pm Sat.) Irrevocable.
Please do not drop out or miss a round without telling us!!
This is a USCF rated tournament; all players must be current members of the United States Chess Federation. You may sign up online or with us onsite.
Please bring your own sets, boards and clocks. These items will also be available to purchase on site (as supplies last).
