The Thousand Oaks Chess Club is extremely pleased to announce our first weekend event! The 2016 Conejo Valley Summer Open will take place Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31, at Bethany Church on the Hill in Thousand Oaks. There will be 5 rounds, a moderate time control of G/90, 3 sections, and $2,400 in cash prizes, including class awards! Trophies will also be awarded in the U1400 section. We are greatly looking forward to this and hope that you can join us! All FIDE titled players (INCLUDING FMs!) play FREE!!

5 rounds, 3 sections, $2,400 in prizes! All FIDE titled players (including FMs) play FREE!!!
Location: Bethany Church on the Hill. 200 West Bethany Court, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360
(Near Janss and Moorpark Roads)
In 3 sections: Open, Under 1800, and Under 1400 5-SS; G/90 d5
3 rounds on Saturday, 2 on Sunday.
Round times: 11 am, 2:30 pm, 6 pm on Sat. 1:30 pm and 5 pm on Sun.
Prizes! (Based on 60 paid entries; raised or lowered in proportion. 50% of each prize guaranteed.)
Open Section: $450—300 —200 Best U2000 — $120
U1800 Section: $350—220 —150 Best U1600 — $100
U1400 Section: $200– 120—100 Best U1200 — $60 Best U800 — $50 plus trophies/medals to all winners!
Unrated players may play in U1800 or U1400; prize cap U1800 – $180 and U1400 – $80. Balance goes to next player(s) in line.
Entry Fee: Top 2 sections – only $50 if received by July 18, $55 by July 27, $60 after/on site.
U1400 Section – all $10 less than above ($40-45-50). Sign up in advance for the cheapest rate!

No mail-in entries after July 27. On site reg. closes at 10:30 am.
FIDE titled players (FMs, IMs, GMs, WGMs) play FREE, $40 subtracted from prize.
July official USCF ratings will be used.
2 Half-point byes available; rounds 1-3 must commit before the start of the tournament (10:30 Sat.), rounds 4-5 before round 3 begins (6 pm Sat.) Zero-point byes available any round; must request at least 30 mins before start of the round. Please do not drop out or miss a round without telling us!!
This is a USCF rated tournament; current USCF membership required.
Please bring your own sets, boards and clocks. These items will also be available to purchase on site (as supplies last).
